Questions

Straight answers, in plain language.

If your question is not here, ask us directly. We would rather explain it once than have you guessing.

What areas do you serve?

Jefferson County and St. Clair County, Alabama. That includes Birmingham, Homewood, Vestavia Hills, Hoover, Trussville, Pell City, Moody, Springville, and the communities between them. If you are just outside either county, ask us. We will look at the drive and give you a straight answer.

Is this companion care, or medical care?

It is companion and non-medical care. We provide companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, help with daily routines like dressing and grooming, medication reminders, respite for family caregivers, and overnight or extended-hour sitting. We do not provide skilled nursing, physical therapy, wound care, or any clinical treatment. We do not administer medication. We do not bill insurance or Medicare.

What does “medication reminders” mean, exactly?

It means a gentle nudge at the time your family has written down, and telling you if something looked off. It does not mean we hand over pills, adjust a dose, or give any advice about a medication. Your family and your physicians make those decisions.

How quickly can someone start?

Usually within a few days of our first conversation, and sometimes the next day when the situation is urgent. Overnight and extended-hour coverage takes a little longer because we want the right person, not just any person, in the house at 2 a.m.

How are caregivers chosen?

We match on temperament first, then on schedule and experience. Someone quiet and steady for a parent who finds chatter exhausting. Someone who cooks the food your mother actually likes. You meet the caregiver before care begins, and if the match is not right, you tell us and we try again.

Will it be the same person every time?

That is the goal, and it is most of what makes this work. When a match is right, we keep it. If the usual caregiver is away, we tell you in advance and you meet the person covering before they come.

What are concierge services?

The running around that quietly piles up: personal errands, grocery and appointment runs, scheduling and household coordination, help with paperwork and phone calls, and the odd jobs in between. It can be added to a care schedule or arranged on its own.

Do we have to commit to a certain number of hours?

No. Families start with a few afternoons a week, a weekend, or a single overnight to see how it goes. We agree on a schedule and a rate in writing, and either side can stop with notice.

Do you help with paperwork, bills, or legal decisions?

We can help sort mail, find the right phone number, sit with someone through a call, and take notes. We do not make decisions for anyone, sign anything, or give legal, financial, or medical advice.

How do we set up a first conversation?

Fill in the short form on the contact page, or call us. We will ask a few questions, listen, and tell you honestly what we think would help. There is no cost, no obligation, and nothing is scheduled from the form itself.
